Why is fundraising a part of what we do? Fundraising is integral to our school, helping bridge the gap of funds brought in through tuition and the actual cost of educating a student at GSP. The reality is that tuition does not equal the true cost of a GSP education. Tuition covers 80% of the school’s general fund and as a result, we are always faced with a shortfall. GSP fundraisers help make up that shortfall. For the 2012-2013 school year, the goal is to raise $103,000 through four main fundraisers: Annual Fund, Donor Dinner, Holiday Market, and Spring Fundraiser.
This year our four main fundraising efforts will be co-chaired by eight talented and dedicated GSP parents. A separate committee exists for each individual effort with the intention to help streamline communication, better facilitate planning and increase community awareness of these events. Look for messages from them throughout the year to keep you informed and up to date on these critical fundraising efforts.
We look forward to your participation and thank you for your continued support of GSP!
GSP is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization registered with the State of Oregon and accredited by the Zentralstelle für Auslandsschulwesen. It receives no significant financial support from either the Oregon or U.S. governments.
Each year, GSP hosts a fundraiser involving a live auction, special appeal, and wine wall to raise funds that will directly impact the programming at GSP. This community event is set in a casual environment to bring together family and friends for dinner and drinks all while supporting the school. The night includes a live auction where families can bid on the coveted parking spots, wonderful getaways, and an unsurpassable progressive dinner at some of Portland's best restaurants. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 and we invite you to mark your calendars for the 2013 Spring Fundraiser set for May 4, 2013. Contact the Spring Fundraiser co-chairs for further details.
Directly supporting GSP’s operating budget, the Annual Fund contributes critical resources we rely on each year to provide our students with extraordinary programs, opportunities and academic excellence. Donations to the Annual Fund are 100% tax-deductible and your contribution at any level will make a real difference, helping to ensure GSP’s continued financial and educational health. We encourage our entire community to give to this critical campaign, the goal for the upcoming school year is to raise $25,000 and have 100% participation by our community. Check with your employer, many employers (like Intel, Nike and others) offer matching gift programs—a great way to double your gift. Include your donation on the À la Carte form or donate now through Firstgiving. More information regarding this vital fund can be found here or contact the Annual Fund co-chairs for further details.

Please join us for an evening of energy and excitement as we bring together members of the GSP community for an elegant cocktail reception and dinner located in the private room of Bluehour Restaurant. This year’s event will be taking a twist! This special evening will be inspired by the collection of German folk stories commonly known today as Grimms’ Fairy Tales with a “theme story” of Snow White. The annual GSP Donor Dinner is $625 per person and will be held on Saturday, October 27. Seating is limited so mark your calendar and make your reservation today! All reservations made by October 1 will be entered into a drawing for the bicentennial edition of the Brothers Grimm stories. Money raised at the Donor Dinner supports GSP’s General Operations which includes many of the school’s outstanding programs. Donations are 100% tax deductible beyond the value of the meal. Please consider this unique opportunity to support our amazing school and help us reach our goal of $35,000 for this event. Contact the Donor Dinner co-chairs for further details.
Be sure to mark your calendars for a GSP classic, the 13th annual Holiday Market. This community event is inspired by the wonderful German markets that are held throughout Germany during the holidays. Featuring traditional German holiday crafts, sweets and treats, Adventkalendars and more, many vendors have been a part of this annual event since the first market held in 1999. Contact the Holiday Market co-chairs for further details.
