Giddy Up, GIS! is our annual celebration of the people, values, and shared commitment that make the German International School community thrive. Inspired by Oregon’s rodeo traditions, this joyful evening brings families, friends, and supporters together to honor curiosity, connection, and opportunity for every student. Proceeds from this year’s gala support the GIS Annual Fund, fueling the programs and resources that make our school exceptional—from academics and extracurriculars to cultural events and instructional supports. And this year, our paddle raise will benefit the Tuition Assistance program, helping ensure stability, continuity, and access for all members of our school community.

  • This event raises crucial funds for GIS! Enjoy a parent’s night out with a silent and live auction, games, dancing, dinner, drinks and more!

  • Your ticket includes admission, 2 carnival game tickets, dinner, and drinks for the evening.

  • The evening starts with happy hour, followed by a buffet dinner, live auction, and plenty of time to party with carnival style games, DJ-led dancing, and other surprises.

  • Gala is from 5-11pm. Happy hour will run from 5-6pm, followed by dinner and live auction until 8:00pm, with dancing and games afterwards.

    No physical tickets - just check in with your name and pick up your bidder number and “scrip” gambling money). Ticket will be available at the door for $125 (space permitting).

  • Select Buy Tickets to reserve a table of 8. You can add your guest names to send them invitations to your table.

  • Tickets are non-refundable, but you can sell them to another community member or donate them to a GIS staff member.

  • Yes! You can sponsor a ticket for a GIS staff member, bid on silent auction items online, and/or participate in our virtual paddle raise for tuition assistance at GIS.

  • Absolutely! Friends, family and neighbors are welcome to join in on the fun.

  • A portion of your ticket is tax-deductible. You’ll receive an acknowledgement letter/receipt for your records.

  • Yes! We offer an online bidding option for select silent auction items. Visit our gala website to “Sign up to Bid Online.”

  • The silent auction opens online a few days before the event, with both attendees and non-attendees able to bid. Closing times will be shared in event communications.

  • Yes! We welcome donations for both our silent and live auctions. Reach out to the Development Office for more info.

  • We accept major credit cards, checks and cash, with mobile payment options available for silent auction purchases and donations.

  • Our rodeo theme invites western-inspired style. Think cowboy boots, cowboy hats, denim or any country flair you love. Pair it with Qi Pat or Lederhosen, make it your own!

    Plan for comfort so you can easily move between sitting, standing, dancing and (if you’re feeling adventurous) riding the mechanical bull!

  • Show appreciation for GIS staff by contributing to our Staff Ticket Fund, helping cover their ticket costs.

  • Yes! Sponsorship promotes your business to our community while supporting GIS. Check out the bottom of our School Auction homepage for more information.

  • Yes, during the live auction, we will have a paddle raise for tuition assistance. This will be way to directly donate to our Financial Aid program. There will be also be carnival style games with prize opportunities, all contributing to our fundraising goal.

  • We offer a variety of meal options, including vegetarian and gluten-free. Note any preferences during your ticket purchase and/email the Development Team.

  • Yes, free parking is available at the venue.
