Cathrin Fiess

I was born in Böblingen and grew up in the Black Forest which is a region in the south of Germany. After working in different business fields, I decided to study “European teaching” at the PH Karlsruhe with a focus on bilingual teaching. After I finished my degree, I went on a trip around the world in 2009 and explored different countries and cultures. Between 2012 and 2015, I lived in Stuttgart and was a 3rd and 4th grade teacher and also taught English, German, and Science in different grade and middle school classes.  

In 2015 I moved to Portland because I was curious and excited about a new adventure in my life. Oregon and especially Portland has become my new home and it feels good to be here and be a part of the GIS community. I enjoy being around people who inspire me. In my free time, I like to explore the Oregon coast and go surfing, climbing, or hiking. I love road trips, so ask me about them!
