Esther Daum

I grew up in the Black Forest of SW Germany. After I completed school, I trained as a nurse and gained in-depth knowledge of biology, anatomy, physiology and psychology. I always saw patients holistically and engaged them from a medical and psychological perspective. While working in a psychiatric hospital, I guided patients through their life crises by listening with empathy, and through coaching them to build resilience.

As a young adult, leading youth groups was an important part of my life. I empowered teenagers, emphasizing their unique value and fostering them to become self-confident, trustworthy, and strong individuals. In 2010 I got married and my husband and I enjoyed living in the US for a year in college at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Together, we went on many adventures, and loved exploring new places. In 2017 we started our journey as parents when our first child was born.

Despite being parents, we wanted to keep going on adventures. We missed Oregon a lot while back in Germany, so we decided in 2019 to accept a job in Portland and move intercontinental with our two toddlers.

In my free time, I like to be creative: sketching, drawing, crafting, or woodworking while always listening to good music. I surely can be found near the coast or on a hike on a long weekend or during breaks.

I am very excited to help and support your children with their social-emotional needs through the challenges elementary and middle school bring, as well as nurture your middle schoolers’ love for science, research, and art.
